Questions
Microdrama, briefly explained.
What is a microdrama?
A microdrama is a vertical series made for the phone: episodes of one to three minutes, each ending on a cliffhanger that makes you watch the next. A season runs 60 to 100 episodes.
How long is a microdrama episode?
One to three minutes. Stories are condensed for maximum impact, and every episode is built to hook in the first seconds.
Who produces microdramas in Europe?
Black Forest Studios produces microdramas at scale in its own seven studios in Germany, from writers’ room to platform-ready delivery, with the whole pipeline in-house.
Which formats do you deliver?
Vertical 9:16 is the native format. One shoot is framed for phone, tablet, desktop and TV, so a series can run on any screen.
Where does the format come from?
Microdramas became a mass format in China and are now growing worldwide. Black Forest Studios brings the format to Europe with European craft and global reach.
How do I start a microdrama project?
Tell us about your idea or series. Whether it is a single pilot or a full slate, we find the fastest route from idea to screen.
